Berlinale 2019: Series at the Zoo Palast - The Collaboration Continues

After successfully bringing together the Berlinale Series programme and the EFM industry event “Drama Series Days” at the Zoo Palast in 2018, preparations are now underway for 2019.

Since 2015, the Berlin International Film Festival has made serial formats a focus of its programme. At the same time, with “Drama Series Days”, a popular market platform for representatives of the industry has been established at the European Film Market (EFM). In 2018, the two events took place for the first time at one venue, the Zoo Palast, a location that has played a particularly important historical role in the festival.

After a successful programme in 2018, with long-awaited series such as Picnic at Hanging Rock and The Looming Tower, the festival is once more on the lookout for exciting serial projects for the coming edition. Solmaz Azizi, the newly appointed head of Berlinale Series, played a major role in establishing the programme in 2015 and has been involved in the selection of series ever since. Berlinale Series remains part of the Official Programme under Festival Director Dieter Kosslick.

The “Drama Series Days” market platform - which is a joint initiative of the European Film Market (EFM), Berlinale Co-Production Market, and Berlinale Talents - is constantly expanding its programme of conferences to meet the wishes of industry professionals, as well as planning another selection of carefully curated market screenings which are accessible by invitation only. “Drama Series Days” will take place at the Zoo Palast from February 11 – 13, 2019. Parallel to this, Berlinale Series will present its premiere screenings there.

In 2019, the Berlinale Co-Production Market is organising for the fifth time “Co-Pro Series”, a pitching event for producers, editors, distributors, and other financiers of serial formats. Until October 22, 2018, serial projects that are in development and seeking financing can apply for “Co-Pro Series”. (Submission Form)
