The 2025 Global Youth Film and Television Education Symposium gathers educators, filmmakers, industry leaders, and students to explore the future of film education in a digital, interconnected world. Hosted by the International Teen Short Film Festival in collaboration with the Berlin International Film Festival and the European Film Market, the symposium emphasizes innovation, equity, and cross-cultural dialogue in shaping the next generation of storytellers.
The event focuses on two key themes. The first, From Classroom to EFM, examines the role of youth film education within globalization. Topics include global trends, regional differences, and integrating interdisciplinary skills to prepare students for 21st-century challenges. It highlights diversity and inclusion as essential to fostering cultural exchange and explores how youth education can bridge to the film industry. Building a global ecosystem for film education and examining the impacts of public-private partnerships are also central to this discussion.
The second theme, Youth in Focus, addresses the booming demand for film education and its alignment with the industry. It delves into how education and industry can share resources, reduce costs, and unlock commercial opportunities. Discussions will spotlight youth-created content with global appeal, talent incubation tailored to industry needs, and the role of film education in promoting regional cultural and economic growth. International cooperation and scalable education models will also take center stage, emphasizing the importance of interconnected global efforts.
The symposium aims to foster creative talent, advance global collaboration, and shape innovative, inclusive educational practices. It is a transformative step toward strengthening cultural dialogue and redefining the landscape of film and television education.
