Don’t worry, the 15-minute archive speed consultations by GRAP give you the opportunity to ask any question you may have regarding your projects. They can help direct you to the right archive in case you are unable to find something. Let’s discuss what an archive producer can do for you and how (and especially WHEN) to hire one. During all stages of your production, archive producers negotiate licensing prices and communicate with archive sources regarding technical needs and scope of rights. GRAP members obtain the relevant material and get permission to use it. Even before you start filming, they can check the availability of archive material so you can plan your film accordingly. From historical film footage and news programs to clips from the latest blockbusters, they can help you with rights clearance and budgets. Their members are experienced and have worked with clients and archives worldwide. They make sure you work with reliable and serious partners and can draw up licensing contract templates. Archive producers are persistent and inventive – archive material must be beautiful, rare and budget-friendly!
