2025 Berlinale Competition entry Hot Milk (starring Emma Mackey, Fiona Shaw and Vicky Kreips and directed by Rebecca Lenkiewicz ) and The Outrun, last year’s Panorama entrant (starring Saoirse Ronan and directed by Nora Fingscheidt ) are both IP-based films. Hot Milk is just starting out on its journey into the world,in Berlin, whilst The Outrun has enjoyed a fine box office run, won numerous awards and been honoured with BAFTA nominations for Best Actress and Outstanding British Film.

Producers and International sales executives for both films discuss how they made it from book to screen.

Moderated by President of US-based sales company Hyde Park International Carl Clifton, Hot Milk ‘s UK producer Christine Langan (“The Queen”) along with Stefanie Fahrion, Head of Sales and Distribution at UK broadcaster Channel 4’s film production arm Film 4 and Outrun’s German co-producer Jonas Weydemann (“System Crasher”) alongside UK sales, finance and production entity Protagonist Pictures’ Chief Commercial Officer George Hamilton , will bring refreshing candour and real insight into the multitude of challenges they faced on each film.

From very different approaches to development and on through packaging, financing, marketing and distribution our panel of guests will bring us their firsthand experience of the long journeys they have all taken bringing these two unique and powerful films to Berlinale and beyond.

With this offer, the EFM Industry Sessions aim to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).
