The use of animation in documentaries continues to grow as animation expands the range of what documentary can represent and how.

This Round Table Discussion traces the path of an animated documentary from first idea, via research, development, production and post-production to the distribution of the finished film.

The director Uli Decker shares how she completed the film animated documentary by tapping into a variety of financial and non financial resources and what challenges you have to overcome when making an animated documentary.

Anima - My Father’s Dresses is a German documentary by Uli Decker. In 2022, the film won the best documentary award and the audience award at the Max Ophüls Festival.
